The 4th Biennial Conference of Tropical Biodiversity

In recent decades, global biodiversity has decreased significantly. Environmentally unfriendly development has become a major threat to the sustainability of biodiversity. This phenomenon not only threatens the balance of the ecosystem but also affects various aspects of human life, including the economy, health, and food security. Therefore, the integration of biodiversity studies with the concept of sustainable development becomes crucial. The global regime through the United Nations (UN) has called for integrated sustainable development through the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) platform. After a long time, the campaign has not shown significant changes, as evidenced by the ongoing decline in biodiversity. Biodiversity cannot be understood and protected through just one discipline. It requires collaboration between various fields, such as biology, ecology, economics, social science, and technology.

The Faculty of Forestry, Hasanuddin University, conducts an international conference called The 4^th Biennial Conference of Tropical Biodiversity (BCTB) 2025: “Mainstreaming Multidisciplinary Approaches to Biodiversity Studies for Sustainable Development.” This conference will serve as a forum for discussion, exchange of knowledge, and collaboration between experts from various disciplines in exploring problems and potential for handling biodiversity sustainability holistically. This conference aims to mainstream a variety of multidisciplinary approaches in formulating strategies for handling biodiversity problems to support the achievement of sustainable development.
